Sam Hicks is an artist with a passion for Ceramics and Photography. A true creative spirit, Sam's talent has led her through an extensive career teaching ceramics, travelling and exploring her own artistic endeavours.
 Sam has enjoyed slip cast ceramics now for twenty plus years in a full time career (up until 2000) in Melbourne. This included teaching students from all walks of life, judging all over Victoria, consultancy work, and being a commercial artist who supplied national retail stores and nurseries.
Her past commissions are part of private collections all over the world.
Sam has enjoyed working with earthenware, stoneware, mid fire, terracotta and porcelain slip cast clays.
Working from a home studio on a property in Fawcett, just fourteen kilometres from Alexandra Sam feels the serenity from the landscape, native wildlife and enjoys the open spaces.
Sam's ceramic works in recent times at her annual exhibitions include her favourite practical pieces that feature crystal glaze, raised glaze, enamels, glass, glass tiles and organic material.
Using different materials and shapes ensures no two pieces are ever the same..... Ceramics Gallery
Now the ceramics is complimentary with her involvement in such passions as tourism in Marysville, business and marketing consultancy, her love of photography, the Upper Goulburn Food, Wine and Culture Group, CEACA Inc and the restoration of Fawcett Hall.

Bernhard the Tiler
Bernhard , my partner also has had a career in Ceramics mainly in the
industrial side (tile manufacturing ) and later in commercial ceramics he is
known for his really large pieces of earthenware and terracotta.... he
occasionally now makes pieces - after having been part of the commercial
industry where by you manufacture thousands of pieces each year he is
enjoying the quieter aspects of country life...
He now is tiling
commercially and domestically - he is a wall and floor tiler ring him on
0400 00 9151 if you need tiling...
Photography
A resurrected long term passion of mine is photography, I first started out with a Minolta SLR X 500 with lots of lenses and have really enjoyed photographing everything ! My favourite subjects are still landscapes, rural shots and food and wine shots.
